Residents of Boston can expect a bit of a reprieve from the biting cold as wind chills in the 20s give way to a modest warmup in the coming days. According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 46 degrees, and while the wind persists with gusts as high as 21 mph, it's forecasted to weaken later in the week.
The cool start to the day will be followed by more favorable conditions. "The winds ease later in the afternoon, and the temperature recovery is respectable," as reported by NBC Boston. Highs are expected to reach into the low and mid 40s under a mostly sunny sky, with the weather pattern allowing for a gradual increase in temperatures through the midweek.
Looking ahead, Thursday's forecast from the National Weather Service promises partly sunny skies with highs again hovering around 46 degrees. However, the night could see temperatures drop to around 35 degrees. Bostonians should prepare for a chance of rain coming in after 7 am on Friday, with a 50% chance of precipitation and a potential high near 53 degrees.
A "mini warmup" is slated for Friday as highs should jump past the 50-degree mark in many spots. This slight temperature hike, however, will be fleeting, as conditions revert to upper 40s to near 50 over the weekend. "Showers could sneak in late Friday, but they should scoot out before sunup on Saturday," explained NBC Boston. The weekend itself is set to bring mostly sunny days, with Sunday being dry and cool.
The lead into Thanksgiving week looks to be uneventful in terms of weather disruptions, with steady temperatures expected, and only a few showers possibly moving in on the holiday itself. While the long-range forecasts suggest a dip of arctic air into the High Plains, no significant holiday weekend storms appear to be brewing for the Lower 48.
