The City of Boulder is embarking on a new partnership with Cities Work to enhance the experience for local entrepreneurs and small businesses in the city. This collaborative effort seeks to streamline the process of starting, operating, and expanding a business in Boulder, according to the City of Boulder.

Alongside Cities Work, which operates under the Institute for Justice as a nonpartisan regulatory consulting team, the city plans to refine its bureaucratic machinery, easing the road for business owners. Provided at no cost to the city, Cities Work is diving into Boulder’s regulatory scene to help lessen the complexities and costs associated with local entrepreneurship. City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde explained, “Small businesses are essential to Boulder’s economy and character,” as obtained by the City of Boulder. Rivera-Vandermyde views the initiative as a strategic move "to make it easier to start and grow a business in Boulder."

The scope of this partnership is broad, including a thorough review of the city’s existing processes that impact businesses, simplifying permit applications, and enhancing online tools. Furthermore, the collaboration aims to reassess fees, with the intention of mitigating financial hurdles for small business owners. By this initiative, Boulder aspires to cultivate  "a more supportive and predictable environment for local entrepreneurs," said Dylan DelliSanti, Activism Policy Associate at the Institute for Justice, as per the City of Boulder.
