In a judgment that has resonated through the Shelby County community, Brandon Isabelle has been given a 147-year prison sentence for his crimes, which include the 2022 murders of Danielle Hoyle and her infant daughter, Kennedy Hoyle. Judge Jennifer Johnson ordained that Isabelle's homicide sentences for each victim—51 years for Danielle and 51 years for Kennedy—would run one after the other, culminating in a total of 102 years for the murders alone, as reported on the Shelby County District Attorney's Office website.
The court topped this with an additional 45 years: Isabelle received 22.5 years each for Aggravated Child Neglect and, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping. Each term is to follow the previous, resulting in the cumulative 147-year sentence. The 22.5-year stretch handed down for the child neglect charge carries, a symbolic weight equal to one year for every hour that baby Kennedy lived. In a statement obtained by the Shelby County District Attorney's Office, Chief Prosecutor Eric Christensen said, “We and the family are very pleased with today’s sentence, which reflects the heinous nature of the crimes perpetrated against two cherished members of our community."
Last month's trial resulted in a Shelby County jury finding Isabelle guilty on all counts. The case attracted widespread attention for the appalling violence against a mother and her newborn, as well as for the community upheaval it caused. "Danielle and Kennedy deserved protection, love, and life. Today’s sentence honors their memory and reinforces our commitment to pursuing justice for the most vulnerable," Christensen added, underscoring the significance of the harsh penalty, as per the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.
