
An Uptown Charlotte home encountered an afternoon blaze on yesterday, with firefighters quickly responding to the scene. According to a report by WBTV, the fire occurred around 12:40 p.m. on South Clarkson Street near Westbrook Drive.
No injuries were sustained during the fire, as all the occupants were alerted by functioning smoke alarms and managed to evacuate the premise safely. "The Charlotte Fire Department said 30 firefighters controlled the fire in 22 minutes," as stated in the WBTV report. The firefighters' timely intervention is a stark reminder of the essential role they play in our community’s safety.
QC News further detailed that the fire was concentrated in the attached garage of the house, which crews were able to identify and suppress swiftly. They state that the blaze was subdued with the efforts of, "around 30 Charlotte firefighters brought the fire under control in 22 minutes."
The cause of the fire was determined to be an accidental ignition stemming from a seized compressor motor within a chest freezer, which resulted in significant property damage. "Investigators determined that the fire was started by a seized compressor motor inside a chest freezer," reported QC News, with estimated losses surpassing $80,000. Despite the significant material loss, the absence of physical harm lends some solace to the otherwise grim incident.
Visuals of the fire's aftermath were captured, as WSOCTV reported plumes of smoke that were seen billowing into the Uptown skyline, sighted from their tower camera.
