Charlotte police have arrested a third suspect in connection with a shooting at a south Charlotte motel on October 10. The incident occurred on Wallingford Street, where 53-year-old Ronald Neville was found dead from a gunshot wound. The first suspect, 32-year-old Ronnie Fewell, was arrested on October 22 and charged with felony murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony conspiracy, WCNC reported.
The investigation continued with the arrest of a second suspect, 62-year-old Anthony Horton, who was charged with first-degree murder, as per QC News. The shooting that killed Ronald Neville has now resulted in three arrests, including 22-year-old Maurice Orear, who faces the same charges as Ronnie Fewell. Authorities stated that the men forced their way into Neville's hotel room, as seen on surveillance footage, and left with a backpack that had not been visible before they entered the room.
CMPD announced yesterday that the third suspect, Maurice Orear, had been taken into custody. Along with Anthony Horton and Ronnie Fewell, Orear faces charges of felony murder, felony conspiracy, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Anthony Horton’s bond has been set at $1 million, and his next court appearance is scheduled for November 21. Police are asking anyone with additional information to come forward, either by calling CMPD at 704-432-8477 or through the P3 Tips app. The three suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues, and the legal process will determine their outcomes in connection with the death of Ronald Neville.
