Tambo 22, a Peruvian-Italian restaurant, plans to close on December 20. In a social media post by Tambo 22, the restaurant cited industry-wide challenges, including rising costs, staffing difficulties, and location-related factors, as reasons for the closure.
Following Tambo 22’s closure, the Adams Street location will be taken over by Michael G’s Bar and Bistro, which is reopening after a previous closure. Boston Restaurant Talk reported the update, citing information shared through a local Facebook group.
Proprietor José Duarte had aimed to combine the flavors of Taranta with Tambo 22’s menu, creating a fusion of Italian and Peruvian cuisine in Chelsea. Duarte described the effort as a way to give these cultural flavors a new home.
The reopening of the space by Michael G’s Bar and Bistro represents a continuation of the location’s presence in Chelsea’s dining scene.
