Charlotte residents can expect a fair but chilly Thanksgiving Day with increasing clouds and high temperatures peaking around 51 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The light northwest winds this morning will make way for a clear evening as the mercury drops to a low of about 28 degrees.
The NWS detailed forecast suggests a sunny Friday ahead, with high temperatures hovering close to 46 degrees and wind speeds picking up to 10 mph, possibly with gusts reaching 20 mph. Those planning to hit the stores for Black Friday deals should bundle up to stave off the chill, especially in the evening when temperatures are slated to dip to a low of around 24 degrees.
For those looking ahead to the weekend, the weather is set to remain mostly sunny with highs again near 46 degrees on Saturday, but clouds will roll in by the evening, bringing nighttime temperatures to around 31.
As Sunday approaches, Charlotte enters a wetter pattern with a 40 percent chance of rain after 11 am, turning to a 50 percent chance come evening. The highs will remain consistent near the high 40s, despite the likelihood of needing an umbrella to close out the weekend.
The start of the next workweek doesn't appear to bring much relief from the potential wet weather, with the NWS forecasting a 60 percent chance of rain for Tuesday. "Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Chance of precipitation is 60%," reads the forecast for Tuesday. However, Charlotte's skies are expected to clear up by Wednesday, promising sunnier skies and a high near 50 degrees.
