A family in Cincinnati's Pleasant Ridge neighborhood faces the upheaval of displacement after their home on Troy Avenue was ravaged by fire last night, killing one of their two cats in the process. As reported by FOX19, the Cincinnati Fire Department (CFD) received a call at 5:02 p.m. and was quick to respond to the emergency. It took approximately 40 CFD personnel around 15 minutes to subdue the flames that primarily consumed the first floor of the residence, leaving behind an estimated $200,000 in damages.
While none of the home's human occupants were harmed, the fire's toll on the family extended to their pets. Two cats were discovered by the firefighters during post-fire searches, and despite aggressive life-saving measures, one of the felines succumbed to smoke inhalation, as confirmed by Local 12.
According to WLWT, the family is currently receiving assistance from the Red Cross as they navigate the aftermath of the fire.
