The City of Cleveland recently saw an impressive assembly of minds at the 3rd annual Thriving Youth Series, where over 1,500 individuals from various sectors, including students, youth development professionals, policymakers, funders, and community partners, congregated to highlight the importance of out-of-school time. According to a social media post from the City of Cleveland - City Hall, the October event ended on a high note with the Youth Leadership Summit.
Hosted by the City of Cleveland in collaboration with the Browns and CMSD, the summit was a manifestation of youthful wisdom—overseen by Mayor Bibb, more than 150 students who were welcomed by the City’s Youth Congress. They worked together to design a day that focused on the themes of "Healthy Hearts, Minds, and Futures." Throughout the series, participants engaged with the Youth Narrative Change Framework, a toolkit for shaping dialogue crafted by their own hands, and honed skills critical for forming healthy relationships and maintaining mental well-being.
Arts and education were in the spotlight as well, with contributions from local entities such as Karamu House and Project Lift. They provided support and resources to nurture the capacities of Cleveland's young people. The summit's aim was to foster an environment where future leaders could emerge, equipped with the ability to articulate their perspectives and advocate for their communities.
The city proudly shared the outcomes of the summit, with Cleveland youth demonstrating the kind of purpose, leadership, and heart that signal a brighter future ahead for the metropolis. City of Cleveland - City Hall's announcement encapsulated the spirit of the event, noting, "Cleveland youth demonstrated purpose, leadership, and heart, shaping a brighter future for our city!" As these young individuals return to their schools and neighbourhoods, they do so not just as students, but as change agents poised to influence the trajectory of Cleveland's growth and prosperity.
