Collierville's Historic Town Square was the backdrop for a heartfelt tribute this past Sunday as residents came together to commemorate Veterans Day, according to a report by the city's official website. The annual celebration, held in partnership with the organization Forever Young, symbolized the community's enduring respect and gratitude for military personnel who have served the nation. Patriotic notes echoed through the square, played by young musicians from West Collierville Middle School, while the crowd listened to moving testimonies from local veterans.
One of the day's highlights, as shared on the town's website, included a special tribute by US Navy Chaplain Captain Tim Foster. Students, scout troops, and veterans together created a tableau of remembrance as they marched around the square, capturing the essence of a traditional small-town parade. The poignant gathering served not only as a platform for recognition but also for reflection on the sacrifices borne by those in service.
In her Veterans Day Proclamation, a sentiment echoed in the festivities, Mayor Maureen Fraser stated as per the Town of Collierville website, "Whereas, military service reminds us there are few things more American than giving of ourselves to make a difference in the lives of others. On Veterans Day, and every day, I encourage everyone to show our veterans the extraordinary gratitude they so rightly deserve and let us recommit to pledging our full support for them in all they do," an excerpt which resonates with the community's collective sense of duty and reverence towards its veterans.
For their service, sacrifice, and dedication, the Town of Collierville says a unanimous and deeply felt, "Thank you."
