In a gesture of gratitude, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is rolling out free park admission to veterans and active military on Veterans Day. Come November 11, as reported by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, military service proof will be the key for veterans and their families to unlock a day's worth of nature's offerings at any state park, a small token for their sacrifices.
Looking for a peaceful escape or an adventure amidst the wild, visitors can scan through the available activities at each park with the help of an online State Park Finder. Showing proof of service, however, military members should remember that camping, hunting, or fishing shall still carry their regular fees, as informed by CPW. With the free day coming up, making a personal connection with Colorado's grandeur becomes all the easier.
Recognizing the commitment to serve, CPW provides other year-round perks for the uniformed souls. With free park access in August and specialty passes that echo the grandeur of independence, these programs aim to sew the natural world into the fabric of rehabilitation and rest. "Find a Colorado state park map and discover the activities available at each park using the online State Park Finder," instructs Colorado Parks and Wildlife, fostering engagement with the outdoors.
While the CPW offices will remain shuttered on the holiday, those planning to visit can anticipate potential closures of Visitor Centers. Holiday observants are encouraged by CPW to call ahead, confirming the operational status of the site on Veterans Day.
