A routine traffic stop in Santa Rosa led to the arrest of a convicted felon on weapons charges with the help of K-9 "Ghost," a trained firearm-detecting police dog. According to a social media post by the Santa Rosa Police, the incident occurred yesterday, when an officer stopped 29-year-old Nathan Zingarelli for speeding on Corby Avenue.
As a result of the traffic stop, authorities conducted a probation search at Zingarelli's residence on Montecito Boulevard, where he was known for being on probation with specific search conditions. Alongside the Santa Rosa Police Officer, K-9 Ghost was brought in to assist, ultimately alerting officers to the presence of a firearm in a bedroom closet. Incorrectly, the loaded Glock 19 with an extended magazine and items belonging to Zingarelli were found inside the closet, despite his history as a prohibited possessor due to past convictions.
Zingarelli was taken into custody and now faces multiple felony charges. The Santa Rosa Police listed the charges as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and violation of probation. After his arrest, Zingarelli was booked into the Sonoma County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
