
A 13-year-old boy tragically lost his life this Tuesday morning in Dana Point after being struck by a vehicle in what authorities are investigating as a hit-and-run. The Orange County Sheriff's Department reported the incident occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. at the intersection of Dana Point Harbor Drive and Park Lantern. FOX LA stated that the boy was on his way to school and was waiting at a crosswalk when the collision happened.
Following the crash, the victim was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. According to ABC7, deputies located the vehicle involved a few miles from the crash site. Helped by witnesses, they were able to quickly locate the 59-year-old driver and take him into custody. The man is now facing charges that include felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
