During a routine traffic stop on November 6 by the Lakeland Police Department, a police K-9 signaled the discovery of narcotics in Cintron's vehicle, which led to the uncovering of a brick-like package of cocaine cleverly hidden under a false compartment within the vehicle's center console it tested positive for cocaine confirming the dog's alert.

An indictment is not a conviction but rather a formal accusation, and under the law, Cintron Victoria maintains the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. The U.S. Attorney's Office stated that the case is the result of collaborative investigative efforts by the Drug Enforcement Administration and was supported by both the Sarasota Police Department and the Lakeland Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Jeff Chang prosecuting the case.
