Gilbert is preparing for a leadership change as the Town Council appoints Dawn Prince as interim Town Manager, effective January 3, 2026, following Patrick Banger’s tenure. Prince brings over 20 years of experience in state and local government, including leadership roles in Douglas and Peoria, and has managed multiple Gilbert departments such as Police and Fire, according to the Gilbert Town.
Prince holds a bachelor’s in History and Education and a master’s in Human Resources Management, equipping her to oversee diverse town operations. She said, "I am honored to serve Gilbert during this transition," and added, "Our community is strong because of the dedication of our staff and residents, and I look forward to working together to ensure continuity, stability, and continued excellence in the services we provide," as reported by the Gilbert Town.
Outgoing Town Manager Patrick Banger is leaving Gilbert to become City Manager in Glendale after 14 years in the role. During his tenure, he oversaw financial improvements, park developments, the Heritage District revival, and economic growth. Banger said, "Gilbert's best days are still ahead." The search for a permanent Town Manager will start in December, including public forums for community input, with a final appointment expected by spring. Mayor Scott Anderson said, "Patrick’s contributions to Gilbert are immeasurable," and added, "As we move forward, Dawn’s leadership will provide stability while we carefully select the next Town Manager to guide Gilbert’s future," as mentioned by the Gilbert Town.
