Denver came together in a show of neighborhood warmth and generosity at the Taste of Mayfair festival last September, an event that joined residents in a celebration featuring food, music, and art, but with a twist this time around. The fun-filled day, held at the Jersey Street Shoppette, had a special mission: to support the Denver Police Four-Legged Officers Fund. This newly minted fund is dedicated to the furry and four-hooved members of the Denver Police, particularly the K-9 and Mounted Patrol units who serve the community.
The festival, spearheaded by the Denver Police Department and the Denver Police Foundation, managed to fetch an impressive $3,500 for the cause, according to a social media post by the Denver Police Department. The local turnout and the funds raised reflected a community's deep appreciation for their police force's partners, with participants getting a chance to meet and interact with some of the well-trained animals such as K-9 Arede and Comfort K-9 Shelby, which undoubtedly added a heartwarming element to the event, catching everyone's attention, these animals serve a key role in maintaining safety and enhancing the connection between the police and the community they protect.
The festival not only offered a space for entertainment and community bonding but also served as an educational platform, showcasing the important work these animals do and the resources required to keep them healthy and operational.
