A fatal pedestrian collision in North Las Vegas on Wednesday evening has led to the arrest of a driver who initially fled the scene, reports News 3 LV. The incident took place near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Griswold Street around 6 p.m.
Arriving law enforcement officers found a woman critically injured. Despite the medical team's response, which pronounced her dead at the scene, the incident left a pedestrian deceased. According to the News 3 LV report, the North Las Vegas Police Department's Major Collision Investigation Unit ascertained that a burgundy Ford Explorer was traveling north when it hit the woman near a marked crosswalk. The severity of the woman's injuries was such that her life was claimed immediately upon the vehicle's impact.
The driver, who returned to the crash site shortly after leaving, turned himself in to officers. The North Las Vegas police have disclosed that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the accident. The unnamed individual was arrested and later booked at the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center on multiple charges, including reckless driving resulting in death, according to KTNV.
