El Dorado County is on the search for new voices to help shape the support systems for its low-income residents. The Community Action Council, an advisory group tied to the Board of Supervisors and the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, has announced it is seeking to fill two vacant seats. According to the county's press release, they're looking for individuals "who can represent the interests and concerns of people and families with low incomes living in El Dorado County."
Rebecca Johnson, the Program Coordinator, has emphasized the council's need for representatives from community organizations "who are committed to actively participating in the Council meetings and advancing the goals of the Council on behalf of low-income people," as noted by the county's official website. The council's role is crucial as it enables direct communication and provides collaboration opportunities between the government, private entities, and the citizens. In a vibrant democratic process, these unpaid positions offer a chance to truly represent and advocate for the needs of the community, especially in areas like housing and nutrition.
Meetings are convened in the historic town of Placerville, where council members discuss and strategize on how best to serve El Dorado's vulnerable populations. Individuals interested in applying for these voluntary positions are encouraged to reach out for more information. They can contact Rebecca Johnson at (530) 621-6255, or can choose to email her at [email protected].
