Winter Park is on the brink of bidding adieu to two of its most cherished dining spots, Chez Vincent and Hannibal’s Lounge. Tucked away in the quaintness of Hannibal Square, these establishments will be swinging their doors closed for the last time on December 21, following a hearty 28-year run.
Chez Vincent began its journey on New England Avenue, a petite space that bloomed into a local favorite under the watchful eye of Chef Vincent Gagliano and his wife Teri, after they planted roots in the area to be close to Teri’s family. Hannibal's Lounge joined the lineup in 2007, offering a laid-back atmosphere for drinks and festivities. Over the years, the establishments garnered much acclaim, including nods for “Best French Restaurant,” as Bungalower reported. But now, a respected local chef and restaurateur is set to take over, promising new chapters for the storied establishments.
As these iconic spots prepare to dim their lights, OrlandoShine recalls the origins of Chez Vincent, which sprang up 28 years ago, establishing itself for its classic French cuisine and commitment to hospitality. The Gagliano family brought a slice of France to Winter Park, which quickly became the go-to place for intimate dinners and significant celebrations.
The Gagliano’s parting words are filled with gratitude and an invitation to the community to share in one last meal before they step into retirement. “Merci pour tout… with all our love and appreciation,” the family expressed in their heartfelt farewell. Chez Vincent and Hannibal’s Lounge were more than mere eateries; they were part of the fabric that made up people’s lives—where the aroma of fresh croissants and the clink of glassware underscored life’s milestones, as OrlandoShine poignantly noted.
Those eager to savor a final taste of Chez Vincent's storied past will have until December 21 to create one last memory.
