Fairfield's police chase on Tuesday turned into an improbable case of reported auto theft by the very individual who had earlier fled from law enforcement.

The Fairfield Police Department detailed the incident on their social media, chronicling how Officer Tuss initiated a traffic stop, which quickly escalated to a chase when the driver, Kaleb Johnson, decided to run. The vehicle was found abandoned at the corner of Dustin Way and Scott Avenue and was towed. Hours after the botched getaway, 27-year-old Johnson picked up the phone to report his vehicle stolen, contacting both Fairfield Dispatch and Vallejo Police Department's Dispatch.

According to the Fairfield Police Department's Facebook post, Johnson then made his way to the Vallejo Police Department with the intention of filing a theft report, unaware of the coordinated police work awaiting him. Upon arrival, instead of the routine paperwork he may have anticipated, he was promptly arrested.

Shedding light on the relational dynamics between regional law enforcement agencies, the Facebook post by Fairfield Police concludes with words of gratitude, "Many thanks to our regional partners at Vallejo Police Department, for the continued partnership that makes coordination like this possible." These kinds of partnerships often streamline police work, and this incident stands as a testament to their effectiveness.
