Farragut's Mayor Bob Leonard Park is gearing up to welcome pickleball enthusiasts with the opening of its brand-new pickleball complex on Dec. 3. According to the Town of Farragut, locals can start booking their one-hour court sessions online, in person, or via phone, with reservations required at least a day ahead.

Welcome from 8 AM to 10 PM daily, the complex features nine courts, where six of them can be reserved, and three are left available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each playable hour will set players back $5, and while drop-ins are encouraged on the open play courts, planning seems the safer bet for those eager to secure a spot.

Accessibility isn't an oversight here, with two parking spots designated for individuals with disabilities who hold a Disabled Person credential. A stern warning accompanies these spots: non-permitted vehicles face the risk of a ticket or tow. For the rest of the pickleball players, they're directed to the Harrison Lane lot for their vehicles, keeping accessibility in mind for those who need it most.

Meanwhile, tennis players aren't left in the lurch. McFee Park's courts have been repurposed solely for tennis, a change in the sporting setup that requires a 24-hour notice for reservations. In what could be a gesture of goodwill during this time of change, the town is offering free access to these tennis courts until March 1, a move likely to smooth the transition for the regulars.
