A devastating collision on the 10 Freeway resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man and sent another individual to the hospital early Thursday morning in South Los Angeles. According to ABC7, the incident shut down several eastbound lanes at Crenshaw Boulevard, causing significant traffic delays.
The crash occurred around 2:17 a.m. and involved a food truck and a car, with the former erupting in flames following the impact. The collision resulted in one fatality at the scene and injuries to a 32-year-old man who was transported to a nearby hospital in fair condition, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department. In the wake of the incident, the freeway faced extensive lane closures, and despite a gradual reopening throughout the morning, the far right lane remained closed per the California Highway Patrol's updates.
Additional details about the crash have been scarce. CBS News indicated that the three rightmost lanes and the Arlington off-ramp were cordoned off until at least 5:40 a.m. Cleanup crews worked diligently as the wreckage and charred remains of the two vehicles lay strewn along the freeway.
The Los Angeles Fire Department's dispatch, marked as INC#0100, confirmed the fatality and the subsequent transportation of the injured party to the hospital, with the official notice posted on the LAFD website. The scene described by first responders was one of swift devastation as fire services arrived to find one car and a food truck involved in a fiery wreck and one patient, roughly 40 years old, determined dead upon their arrival; the incident, as logged by the CHP, illustrated the chaotic aftermath of the traumatic event.
