A recent federal court ruling has directed the use of contingency funds to keep the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) running in Arizona during a period of funding uncertainty. Despite the decision, the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office has cautioned that some families may still experience delays or incomplete benefit distributions.
In response, the Secretary of State’s Office and Local First Arizona have launched a statewide initiative connecting small businesses willing to help residents affected by potential SNAP disruptions. Participating businesses are offering free or discounted meals and other assistance. A statewide directory of these businesses is being created to help residents find available support.
The initiative encourages both residents in need and businesses that wish to contribute to participate. The Secretary of State’s Office emphasized that Arizonans facing food insecurity are not alone and urged local businesses to join the effort.
