The Fort Worth Fire Department is ramping up its workforce by opening positions for EMT trainees and paramedics, a move signaling a strengthening in emergency services amid growing demands. As detailed on the city’s official website, the department is actively accepting applications until November 30, with a series of prerequisites that each candidate must fulfill.
Hopeful applicants must navigate through a gauntlet of assessments, including a written test, a test of physical endurance, and a thorough background probe complete with a polygraph examination. To qualify, individuals are required to wield nothing less than a high school diploma or GED or possess a minimum of 12 semester hours in college credits. They've also got to be ready to become residents in the vicinity of their report-in stations within half a year of their hiring date, as noted by the City of Fort Worth's announcement.
Paramedic positions are not just for the seasoned; even the young guns between the ages of 18 and 35 can submit applications, provided they have not celebrated their 36th birthday by the time the entry-level exam rolls around. The aspiring EMTs and paramedics must also present a valid Class C driver's license upon application and obtain a Class B license while undergoing training.
