The Framingham Logan Express, a key commuter hub in Massachusetts, has reopened following a major expansion. Massport unveiled the upgraded facility at 11 Burr St., aiming to make travel to Logan International Airport from the MetroWest region smoother. The improvements include more frequent shuttles, reducing wait times to 20 minutes, and better serving the more than 685,000 passengers who used the hub last year, according to Boston.com
The Framingham Logan Express is now also a model for sustainability. The station features over 2,600 solar panels, supplying more than half of its energy needs, making it the first U.S. transportation facility to rely so heavily on solar power. Electric vehicle chargers have also been added, further supporting the hub’s eco-friendly upgrades.
Local culture is also on display at the renovated Logan Express. Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky highlighted the inclusion of local art murals. The artwork, created by Framingham State University's Danforth Art Museum and local artist Mia Cross, adds both beauty and practicality to the space. Cross told MetroWest Daily News, "I wanted to create murals that were beautiful and education for travelers, but also practical, because at the end of the day we're trying to find our cars." The murals not only enhance the station’s aesthetic appeal but also help visitors locate their vehicles.
The expanded Logan Express offers more than art and renewable energy. Massport plans to open a remote terminal by June 1, 2026, aimed at making travel easier. This pilot program will let passengers complete security screening in Framingham before boarding the shuttle to airport terminals. Massport CEO Rich Davey described the initiative to MetroWest Daily News: "This facility allows us to offer a great amenity to our customers to get on a bus, to get dropped off right in their curb, low stress, low dollars."
