
The Georgia Senate is advancing its discussion on a major tax overhaul as the Senate Study Committee on Eliminating Georgia’s Income Tax prepares for its fourth meeting. Scheduled for November 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the State Capitol, the session will be led by Sen. Blake Tillery (R–Vidalia). Due to public interest, the meeting will be live-streamed, allowing residents to follow the proceedings on proposed changes to the state’s income tax system.
Additional Senators participating in the committee include Sen. Ed Harbison (D–Columbus) and Sen. Steve Gooch (R–Dahlonega), joined by economic experts such as Dr. Arthur B. Laffer of The Laffer Center. The bipartisan committee, established by Lt. Governor Burt Jones, is charged with exploring ways to provide “meaningful relief to all Georgians,” according to an official announcement. Contributions from Patrice Onwuka and Chris Denson, representing their respective economic institutions, aim to ensure discussions are informed by research and policy impact analysis.
