Germantown's Mayor said in an official announcement that local pantries and food banks are running low on supplies while demand is going up. He noted that "Families, seniors and those with special circumstances are turning to these organizations for help."
Donations are essential in addressing food scarcity. The Mayor encouraged residents to provide financial support to the Mid-South Food Bank, which helps replenish supplies and deliver resources to those in need. Monetary contributions can be made through the organization’s website to help reduce hunger in the community. Additionally, donations to MIFA can support its services, providing meals and assistance to families, seniors, and homebound individuals.
There is also a call for local contributions, with Germantown's Covenant Presbyterian Church serving as a drop-off location for non-perishable food and personal hygiene products. The Church has specified times for these drop-offs to make it easier for residents to participate.
Mayor Mike expressed his gratitude to citizens, noting that their collective acts of kindness reflect the spirit of Germantown. "Thank you for continuing to make Germantown a place defined by generosity, heart and community," he said in an official statement.
