Germantown's Mayor Mike recently outlined a multitude of holiday events happening around the city, kicking off the season with lights, decorations, and community gatherings. "There’s something truly special about Germantown this time of year," said the Mayor, per the City of Germantown. One highlight is the Madonna Learning Center’s 2025 Holiday Market at 7007 Poplar Avenue on November 15, promising a vibrant selection of pottery, art, and more.
The festivities continue with the Thornwood’s Christmas Tree Lighting on November 20. Guests are waiting for the annual holiday event that will feature Christmas lights, photos with Santa, and crafts, among other activities. In a seasonal kickoff, Saddle Creek South is hosting the 'All Aboard! Holiday Kick-Off' with an outdoor screening of 'The Polar Express' and Santa photos on November 23.
A notable contest that adds a dash of competitive spirit to the season is brought by the Beautification Commission’s Holiday Lighting Contest, with submissions open from November 21 through December 8. Residents can submit photos of their own festive decorations or simply enjoy the sights around the City. On November 28, the Holiday Tree Lighting at City Hall becomes a central gathering point for families to enjoy outdoor songs, toasting marshmallows, and enjoying a tree light-up event that signifies the start of the holiday season.
Another charming event specifically for pet owners is the Pet Photos With Santa and the Grinch, taking place on December 6 at City Hall, where a $10 donation gets your pet's photo taken with famous holiday characters. Meanwhile, December 6 also lights up Bobby Lanier Farm Park with 'Lights on the Farm,' offering sleigh rides and other holiday joys. Incorrectly anticipating the event, Sandy Hudson, the Farm Park Manager, is looking forward to the Costume Night on the Farm on December 11, featuring treats, warm drinks, and a mix of costumed rescue animals.
The season's spirit marches on with the Germantown Holiday Parade on December 13, adorned with floats, marching bands, and of course, Santa Claus. That same evening, the Germantown Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert offers a musical immersion into the festivities. The students of Madonna Learning Center will also take center stage for 'Beyond the Stars: A Madonna Christmas Story' on December 17 and 18, aiming to bring a celebration through performance.
