Google has announced a $40 billion investment in Texas, unveiled alongside Governor Greg Abbott and CEO Sundar Pichai to expand cloud services, artificial intelligence, and the “Investing in America” initiative. Governor Abbott called it a major milestone for the state’s tech economy, saying, “This is a Texas-sized investment in the future of our great state,” according to the Office of the Texas Governor.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy James Danly and Google’s Amanda Peterson Corio joined state officials at the announcement, noting the project will support energy efficiency and workforce training. The investment positions Texas as a key hub for AI development and large-scale technology infrastructure, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor.

Google announced a $40 billion plan to expand its operations in Texas, including new data centers in North Texas, West Texas, and the Panhandle. The initiative focuses on improving technical infrastructure, supporting research and development, increasing energy capacity, and training workers for jobs in an AI-driven economy. Sundar Pichai said, "The $40 billion investment we announced today will bring three new data center campuses to the state to power the new era of AI innovation," noting that the project is expected to create jobs and offer training opportunities for college students, as stated by the Office of the Texas Governor.
