Tragic revelations have surfaced in the case of a Grand Prairie one-year-old's death, as detailed in criminal affidavits. The mother of the child, Susaneth Pazarez-Nunez, along with her boyfriend, Fernando Vega Diaz, face chilling accusations of child abuse leading to the infant's death. FOX 4 News reported that police were called to their Huddleston Drive home early in the morning, where the child was found unconscious and not breathing.
After being rushed to the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, the child tragically passed away from his injuries. According to WFAA, Pazarez-Nunez described a history of abuse that began when she moved in with Diaz. She recounted incidents of her child being struck, choked, bitten, and "smothered," which she failed to report due to fear of Diaz, who had also assaulted her.
Diaz's own admissions during police questioning further corroborated the grim details. He confessed to various acts of violence against the child, such as slapping, choking, and striking with a cable, in a bid to silence the infant's crying. Most recently, he described delivering a "coscorron" — a knock to the head — before hitting the child in the chest, and choking him on the bed.
This case took on a darker dimension when detectives attended the child's autopsy. According to findings detailed in a statement by police, the autopsy revealed a litany of injuries, including contusions to vital organs and internal bleeding. The child suffered severe trauma, consistent with 'serious bodily injury,' as per the affidavits. Both Pazarez-Nunez and Vega Diaz, who are currently held at the Grand Prairie Jail with immigration detainers, are charged with injury to a child causing death, a grave first-degree felony.
