St. Johns County law enforcement officials arrested 39-year-old Kamala Singleton this month on a charge of Attempted First Degree Murder following a violent confrontation that resulted in a stabbing. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office disclosed via social media that deputies were dispatched to a home on Reno Street in Hastings on November 7 after receiving a report of the incident.
Upon arrival, deputies found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Subsequent investigation led detectives to assert that Singleton had arrived at the residence armed and that an altercation ensued, resulting in Singleton allegedly stabbing the victim multiple times. Despite scant details on the motive behind the attack, it was confirmed that Singleton fled the scene before the deputies' arrival. Post-event, detectives secured a warrant for Singleton's arrest, who then surrendered herself to the authorities and is currently being held without bond.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office reported that the victim was airlifted to a local hospital, underwent emergency surgery, and is expected to recover. Few additional details were released about the victim’s condition.
Singleton is currently awaiting legal proceedings, and the incident has prompted concern in the Hastings community. Authorities are expected to release more information as the case continues.
