The National Weather Service in Honolulu says a weakening cold front will reach Hawaii today. The cloud band from the north should fade near Kauai and turn into a trough, bringing more showers, especially over windward mountain areas, by Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service says the cold front will weaken into a trough by the end of today, while the upper low moves west of Hawaii through Monday. Clouds may reach the tops of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, possibly causing light icing. A Winter Weather Advisory may be issued for the Big Island summits, and meteorologists are keeping a close watch on the situation.

From Tuesday to Thursday, showers should ease as a ridge builds over the islands. Trade winds will get stronger, becoming moderate to brisk. Another system from the northwest may arrive Friday, bringing more showers into the weekend, as per the National Weather Service.

Boaters should be cautious, as strong winds and possible thunderstorms may affect waters near Kauai later today through tonight. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. HST Monday for some island waters. North-facing shores will see rising surf from incoming north-northwest swells, while east shores will have small to moderate waves. South shores may see a slight increase in surf by mid to late week from a south-southwest swell. Higher humidity and light trade winds will keep fire danger low. A High Surf Advisory remains in place until early Monday for areas including Oahu’s North Shore and Windward Haleakalā, as reported by the National Weather Service.
