Houston will continue to experience cool weather, with sunny skies and a high near 72 degrees today. Morning temperatures will be cooler, warming into the afternoon. North winds are expected at 5 to 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Cooler and drier air moved into Houston on Sunday after a cold front, bringing gusty north winds. The Texas A&M Forest Service raised the wildfire danger to moderate and high because of low humidity and ongoing drought conditions. “That’s because cold air contracts, causing tire pressure to drop, typically by 1–2 PSI (pound per square inch) for every 10-degree decrease in temperature,” the Houston Chronicle explains, noting that temperature changes can affect vehicle tire pressure.
Houston will see a steady warming trend under a ridge of high pressure. "The beginning of next week will be seasonable with a gradual warming trend as a ridge of high pressure takes hold of the region," forecasters said, as per Houston Chronicle. Highs are expected to reach the mid-70s by Monday and the low 80s by midweek. October ended with below-normal temperatures but averaged warmer overall, with highs of 95 degrees earlier in the month. The city recorded 3.36 inches of rain but still faces a rainfall deficit as November begins with below-average precipitation expected. Tonight’s forecast calls for clear skies and a low around 51 degrees, with slightly warmer nights to follow, as mentioned by the National Weather Service.
