As Thanksgiving approaches, Jacksonville prepares to embrace the spirit of giving with numerous community organizations stepping up to provide free holiday food support. The City of Jacksonville announced these upcoming events, urging community members to arrive early and highlighting the limited supply of provisions. The councilman's turkey giveaway, a drive-thru distribution at FSCJ Downtown Campus, and more aim to ensure no table is without a turkey this year.
On Saturday, residents can expect to line up early for the Councilman Gaffney Jr. Turkey Giveaway at 3000 Dunn Ave, starting at 9 AM, where 800 turkeys await distribution. A one-per-family limit aims to maximize reach. The MASS Clinic is also stepping in with a turkey distribution of their own at the Islamic Center of NEFL on 2333 St. Johns Bluff Rd S, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, where identification is required, offering support has long been key to their mission.
Continuing the distributions, the Clara White Mission invites those in need to 'Feed the City' with an event slated from 11 AM to 1 PM at 613 W. Ashley St. Additionally, the generous heart of Farm Share is set to beat at the FSCJ Downtown Campus, with a promise of provisions for over 2000 families in their Lot #4 – notably, this will be a drive-thru event to facilitate efficiency and ease for recipients.
Closing the weekend, Operation Thanksgiving by Campione Law P.A. will run a turkey giveaway on Sunday at the Community First Igloo located at 3605 Philips Hwy. From 10 AM–1 PM, the rules are simple – one turkey per car – maintaining a flow of gratitude and support.
