A Jacksonville man, Tyler Bruce McClure, 24, has been federally indicted for distributing and possessing child sexual abuse materials, with potential penalties ranging from a mandatory minimum of five years to up to 40 years in prison, plus possible lifelong supervised release. He was arrested last Monday and remains in custody pending trial, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The indictment alleges McClure distributed abusive content depicting minors online on September 26 and possessed similar material on a cell phone on October 7. While serious, these charges are accusations, and McClure is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The Northeast Florida INTERCEPT Task Force, along with Homeland Security Investigations and several county sheriff’s offices, conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney D. Rodney Brown is prosecuting the case. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice program started in 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse, with information and resources available on its official website, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
