The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office team of Officer Eric Megela and K9 Bane was named Fan Favorite at the recent Law Enforcement K9 Competition hosted by K9s United. The event, featuring nearly a dozen law enforcement agencies, drew over 1,700 votes from attendees who recognized the team’s skill and partnership.
“Our K9 Unit is an important part of our agency,” the Facebook post stated, noting their work in locating missing persons and apprehending suspects. The post also acknowledged other participating agencies, saying, “We're one law enforcement team, and we're grateful for chances like this to come together.”
The competition showcased camaraderie and mutual respect among participating law enforcement agencies, highlighting the important roles each K9 unit plays in their communities. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office encouraged the public to congratulate Officer Megela and K9 Bane, inviting them to give the team “a hand, or paw, for their win.”
