In a not-so-subtle act of defiance, an individual turned a routine shopping trip into a five-finger discount fashion show at an Oak Haven convenience store on University Boulevard. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in identifying this bold shoplifter who, on September 17, treated the aisles like a personal runway, as reported by a recent social media post.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's Facebook page, the suspect demonstrated a remarkable level of confidence akin to that of a seasoned model. With a large purse in tow, surveillance cameras recorded as she nonchalantly filled the bag with merchandise. The total value of the stolen goods approached nearly $400, but instead of proceeding to checkout, the individual opted for a swift exit, peace sign in the air, sans payment.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's social media strategy relies on public engagement to help solve crimes. “Wanted Wednesday” is their latest initiative to bring attention to unsolved cases, and in this instance, they infused some humor into the search, stating, "You posed for the camera and threw up a peace sign." The office further quipped, "We didn’t get our chance to see your good side in person, but there’s still time to make your next appearance in our custody."
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the identity of this runway reject, who left with a bounty of un-purchased items, to come forward.
