It seems even a mundane trip to the department store can spiral into a storyline fit for a true-crime series, as evidenced by a shoplifting incident involving a duo of cosmetic aficionados at a Regency area department store. On October 14, these individuals reportedly transformed an ordinary shopping spree into a theft operation, according to a social media post from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
In the surveillance footage shared by law enforcement, one person is seen piloting a cart directly to the cosmetics aisle—presumably with the intent to stock up—while the other played it cool with a basket in tow. The escalation began as they filled their cart with merchandise, and without a pause for payment, one suspect stashed the goods in a purse, nonchalantly exiting through the shoe department. Their accomplice opted out at the last minute, aborting the mission, and left her basket behind before leaving the store.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office urges the public to assist in identifying these so-called "cosmetic collectors" by ringing 904.630.0500. For those who wish to remain anonymous but still desire to provide information, First Coast Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1.866.845.TIPS.
