In what seems to be a significant blow to Jacksonville's narcotics underworld, local law enforcement officials have successfully executed a drug bust in the Royal Terrace neighborhood, removing a cache of illegal substances and weapons from the streets. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) effected the arrest of two men, identified as 34-year-old Devin Luster and 44-year-old Curtis Smith, both with prior felony convictions, according to a recent report.
JSO's Narcotics detectives, acting on a tip regarding suspicious activities at a residence on Paris Avenue, meticulously gathered evidence over the past month to secure a search warrant. With the warrant in hand, the SWAT team was deployed to rapidly and safely to carry out the bust. During the search, authorities discovered an alarming quantity of narcotics and firearms, as detailed in an official release.
The confiscated items listed include 14.2 grams of Fentanyl — a dangerously potent synthetic opioid with the potential to kill upwards of 7,000 individuals — alongside 645.2 grams of powder cocaine and 153.1 grams of crack cocaine. Additionally, nearly 30 pounds of marijuana and 284.4 grams of marijuana wax were seized. The haul also comprised three handguns, one assault rifle, and $6,128 in cash, shedding light on the dangerous coupling of drug trafficking and illegal firearms within our communities.
