The City of Jacksonville is inviting residents and visitors to join the annual Veterans Day Parade on November 11, starting at 11:01 a.m. Sponsored by The Law Offices of Ron Sholes, P.A., the parade will begin at the Jacksonville Center of the Performing Arts on Water Street and proceed through Downtown Jacksonville to honor and show respect for the nation’s service members, according to a city's release.
The parade will turn left onto Hogan Street, proceed east on Bay Street, and conclude at Lot X, covering about 1.11 miles over roughly two hours, according to a city's release. Notable participants include Mayor Donna Deegan; Colonel Len Loving, US Marine Corps, and Mrs. Francis Loving as Honorary Grand Marshals; and Grand Marshal Padraic “Pat” Mulvhill, along with military units, local schools, and community organizations.
The parade will celebrate community and national pride, with attendees encouraged to wear red, white, and blue and wave flags in support. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine, though organizers will issue updates if severe weather affects public safety.
Street closures will be in effect along the parade route, managed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to maintain traffic flow. The closures will include both hard barriers and rolling obstructions, with detours and traffic control measures in place to minimize disruptions.
