Heads up, Kānehili residents: a construction project set to begin this coming winter aims to bring slowed speeds and hopefully increased safety to your streets. The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands has declared that work will start on traffic calming improvements within the Kānehili Subdivision, focused around installing speed humps and new signage to manage the pace of neighborhood traffic. Daily work hours are scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, assuring weekends remain undisturbed.
For those commuting through or living within the vicinity, expect to see some disruptions and to carefully navigate the changes. Adjustments to your normal route may need to be made hastily, but detailed maps of the affected areas can be found on the department’s website. These resources are provided to help residents plan and maintain smooth daily operations
While this construction takes place, locals are urged to be cautious while proceeding through the area, observe all traffic controls and posted signs, and stay alert for construction personnel and equipment, according to the official notification released by the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.
The project will improve safety and address community traffic concerns. Residents can view project areas and get more information on the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands website. For questions, the department can be reached at (808) 730-0198.
