
A fire broke out this morning at a two-story apartment building located at 130 E 60th St in the Florence neighborhood, causing distress and disruption among the residents. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was quick to the scene, arriving to smoke billowing from the building and reports of individuals trapped inside.
According to the LAFD's incident report, firefighters sprang into action, rescuing three people from the second floor of the flaming structure. They also coordinated roof ventilation to release smoke and heat while conducting an interior attack to douse the flames on both floors. The coordinated effort of 33 firefighters managed to extinguish the fire in approximately 14 minutes.
Following the evacuation, the three individuals who were saved from the fire were assessed by paramedics and were reportedly in fair condition. The cause of the fire remains unclear, as LAFD officials continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the incident.
The LAFD stated, "Firefighters immediately rescued three people from the second floor and then coordinated roof ventilation and interior fire attack on the first and second floors," highlighting the swift and strategic approach taken by the responding units to avert a potential tragedy, all while battling the blaze that threatened to consume the building and risk lives; the exact cause is under active investigation and details are yet to be determined.
