Currently on the market for a whopping $88 million is a sprawling Silicon Valley estate in Hillsborough, California, boasting a design reminiscent of the luxurious landscape of Lake Como. The property, known as Villa de Verano or the summer house, spans a 12.5-acre area that features an elaborate sports complex with multiple courts, including sunken tennis, pickleball, and volleyball, as well as an executive-length golf course. Venture capital investor Ted Kruttschnitt and his wife, Alexia, are behind the creation of this meticulously planned estate, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The couple, who provided their architect with a detailed 15-page list of desired features and an additional six pages of unwanted elements, sought a blend of security, privacy, and classic design for the estate. Ted is quoted as saying, "I’m sort of a stickler for detail on certain things," when emphasizing their precise vision for Villa de Verano. Built over six years, the estate involved the efforts of 110 subcontractors, some of whom were European craftsmen, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The main house, spanning 17,000 square feet, sits atop a hill, offering sweeping views of Mt. Diablo and the San Francisco Bay. Inside the mansion, designer Suzanne Tucker's decor is complemented by a variety of luxurious accommodations, including a vast kitchen under a coffered wood ceiling, a 2,100-gallon saltwater aquarium, and a fabric-lined home theater. These opulent amenities are among the attractively personalized features of the residence, highlighted in a piece by Robb Report.

Outdoor features on the property include a redwood grove, a 150-seat amphitheater, and a reflecting pond with fountains, evoking parallels to the Bellagio Hotel & Casino. With a substantial lawn poised for staging events, the estate is ideal for large-scale social gatherings accented by its Lake Como-inspired design. The property, which sells, potentially achieving a record-setting figure for Hillsborough, would dwarf the previous record home sale of nearly $38 million, said Jennifer Gilson of Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty, according to the Wall Street Journal.
