
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is actively seeking the public's assistance in locating a hit-and-run driver responsible for the death of a man in a motorized wheelchair. The incident, which took place yesterday morning in East Las Vegas near Carey Avenue and Christy Lane, involved the driver of a Toyota Tundra truck who fled the scene after striking the pedestrian, as reported by FOX5 Vegas.
The collision occurred around 2:45 a.m. and it has been said that after the initial impact with the Toyota Tundra, the victim was knocked into the pathway of another vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, the driver of which remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities, the driver was not found to be impaired; however, the Tundra was nowhere to be found, 8 News Now adds detail on how the pedestrian, a 39-year-old man, was traveling along the north shoulder of the road when he was initially hit.
Investigators are looking for a dark-colored 2015 to 2018 model year Toyota Tundra, which they say will have front-end damage as a result of the crash. The death of the wheelchair-bound man is the Las Vegas Metro's 136th traffic-related fatality this year, underscoring a persistent and troubling trend of roadway dangers in the city.
