The lottery fever continues to sweep through the nation as the Mega Millions jackpot escalates, now estimated at a colossal $965 million with no grand prize winner in sight. There were, however, fortunate individuals in Arizona and Iowa who won substantial prizes in Tuesday's drawing, netting them millions. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, one such ticket was sold in a Peoria CVS store, with matching numbers worthy of a $5 million reward due to a timely multiplier.
Continuing to intrigue hopefuls across 45 states, including Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mega Millions keeps people dreaming. To potentially claim their fortune, tickets are bought for $5 each, holding the possibility of massively multiplied winnings. Specifically, the ticket from Peoria which had the nearly perfect combination of 10, 13, 40, 42, 46, lacked only the golden Mega Ball of 1 to become an outright jackpot victor.
Moving northeast, Iowa had its own stroke of luck when WHO 13 reported that the Kwik Star in Norwalk sold a ticket that won $3 million. Similar to the fortune in Peoria, this ticket matched the first five numbers. It was just a single Mega Ball away from hitting the jackpot. As a token of such good fortune, Kwik Star will receive a bonus of $3,000 for selling the winning ticket.
With no ultimate winner to claim the staggering near-billion-dollar jackpot this past Tuesday, the anticipation grows and the stakes get ever higher. The next chance to win big is just around the corner, with the upcoming drawing slated for November 14. It is a date surely marked, with hope to finally see someone to successfully claim the almost-mythical prize that is the Mega Millions jackpot.
