Mansfield is prepping for a dose of holiday spirit with their Hometown Holidays tradition, starting at 5 p.m. this December 5 at City Hall, located at 1200 E. Broad St. A tree lighting, slated for around 7 p.m., will inaugurate the season, set on a new patch along Broad Street, signaling a fresh twist on the annual festivities, as reported by the City of Mansfield, Texas Municipal Government.
The event will feature more than just twinkling lights; immediately following the tree's illumination, skies will light up with the Fireworks Spectacular, painting a nocturne of celebration. Kids and those young at heart can keep the fun going with free carnival rides, while others might opt to test their luck at pay-to-play games or simply indulge the senses at food trucks boasting a variety of fares luring in the crowd looking for sustenance and festivity in equal measure.
But all things must come to an end, including queues for Santa and rides shutting down at 8:45 p.m.; the night's capstone is thus not just a moment but an admonition: come early, stay late, engage fully in the merriment and commerce that defines the season for so many. The community extends its gratitude to Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital for the Holiday Light Display and Texas Health Hospital Mansfield for the Holiday Tree; additional support comes from H-E-B for the main stage and Methodist Mansfield Medical Center for delivering Santa himself to the throngs of eager children and the young at heart.
