In Maricopa County's latest move to address housing affordability, the grand opening of Suncrest Vista at Canyon Trails has been celebrated as a beacon of hope for seniors seeking cost-effective living spaces. Maricopa County, in collaboration with the City of Goodyear and property developer Dominium, has inaugurated this rental community, tailoring it to the unique needs of the older demographic.
Supervisor Steve Gallardo, representing District 5, emphasized the project's alignment with the Board's vision, declaring, “This community reflects the Board’s commitment to providing affordable housing for seniors.” He shared with Maricopa County's news portal, “Suncrest Vista at Canyon Trails offers seniors a supportive, enriching community where they can remain in their communities, live comfortably, and receive the support they deserve.” Notably, a $2 million investment from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds gave life to 10 dedicated units for households earning at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Strategically positioned near the Loop 303 in the Southwest Valley, Suncrest Vista invites seniors to settle into a variety of apartment options. Its proximity to essential services, like retail and grocery stores, amplifies its appeal for those who call it home. The facility boasts a rich assortment of amenities, including a beauty salon, theater room, and community garden, presenting an inclusive portrait of senior living that's both comfortable and community-oriented.
Residency requirements are clear: one member of the household must be at least 55 years old, and all others must be a minimum of 40. Maricopa County's dedication to affordable housing stretches beyond this initiative, as evidenced by its substantial $128 million allocation of ARPA funds to various housing programs and projects, as detailed on the county's housing website.
