As the season of reflection and thanks is upon us, the City of Marietta is taking a pause, announcing that all administrative offices will shutter for two days to celebrate Thanksgiving. In a recent release, officials confirmed that city operations would halt on November 27 and the following day, November 28. Not just the administrative functions, but also Marietta Power and Water will observe the holiday, letting workers spend the time with their families and traditions.
There's a slight shakeup for residents to keep in mind: waste services will not run on their typical schedule. To make sure your garbage doesn't pile up, and to avoid missing the trimming of brush or the collection of recyclables, city dwellers are nudged to quickly check the Marietta Trash Talk app or to effortlessly swing by the city website to confirm the amended pickup dates.
Even as the city powers down for the holiday, emergencies won't take a breather. Should any resident find themselves facing a life-threatening situation, the three-digit mantra of 9-1-1 remains the immediate go-to. For less dire encounters that still require police attention, the Marietta Police Department will continue to answer the call at 770-794-5300. And for those rare yet possible emergencies that involve Marietta Power or Water, assistance is available at 770-794-5160. Animal Control will also respond to urgent calls, tapping into the same line we all know—9-1-1.
