As the cold settles in over Memphis, the Hospitality Hub is taking action to offer warmth and shelter to those in need. Starting tonight at 10 p.m., the warming center at First Baptist Church, located on the northeast corner of Poplar and East Parkway, will open its doors to welcome single men, women, families, and couples seeking refuge from the frigid temperatures. According to Action News 5, the center will remain open until 8 a.m. this morning, catering to the city's most vulnerable populations.

In an effort to ensure that all who need to can access the warming center, MATA has been enlisted to provide transportation. Those in need can call 901-486-0939 to arrange their ride. As per a report by FOX13, guests will be welcomed with sack meals and blankets, available while supplies last. The center emphasizes ease of access, as guests are not required to present IDs at check-in.

Alongside providing immediate warmth, there is a push to collect necessary supplies for the upcoming winter months. The Hospitality Hub has set a goal to quickly gather 700 blankets by December 1. WREG reported that contributions are encouraged; those willing can donate twin-size, fleece blankets, or opt to make a donation online.

Donations can be brought directly to the Hospitality Hub at 590 Washington, or for convenience, a delivery can be scheduled by emailing [email protected], as noted by FOX13.
