As the specter of innovation looms large over Memphis, the city stands at the precipice of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), officially ushered in with a proclamation from Mayor Paul A. Young. During the week of November 17 to 23, which has been declared Entrepreneurship Week in Memphis by the Mayor, the city will host a series of events aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs and small businesses, as the City of Memphis website detailed.

Organizations such as the Greater Memphis Chamber and Epicenter are partnering with other local groups to boost economic activity, according to the official proclamation. The schedule includes events ranging from breakfast meetups to educational seminars.

Key events punctuating the week include the Greater Memphis Chamber organizing a "Business Over Breakfast" session today, a "Lunch & Learn" by Kiva tomorrow, and a "Cyber Seminar for Small Businesses," which will be orchestrated by the Greater Memphis IT Council on November 20. Furthermore, EDGE will host a session dedicated to explaining "Access to Capital for Small Businesses" on November 21, and the City of Memphis Libraries Division will culminate the week with the "901 Kids Fest", a public celebration of entrepreneurship geared towards the younger generation on November 22, as claimed by the city's announcement.

Global Entrepreneurship Week celebrates innovators and business founders around the world, highlighting those who bring new ideas and energy into the marketplace, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Network. In Memphis, the event underscores the city’s role in this global movement while elevating local entrepreneurs who continue to build a more diverse and resilient business community in the Home of the Blues.
